Tamiya TT-01 Rules

9.0 TAMIYA TT-01
The purpose of this class is to provide a competitive, low cost option for people who wish to compete in a 4wd Touring Car class.

Competitors should be advised that this is not a nationally recognised class and is currently only offered by Auckland region Clubs.

9.1 ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
Only Tamiya TT-01 and TT01E chassis vehicles, either kitset or prebuilt XB models, may compete in this class. Please be advised that the TT01-R and TT01-D variants, or any parts specific to these variants, are not permitted to be used in this class unless specifically covered by rule 9.2.

9.2 PERMITTED OPTIONS

9.2.1 Vehicle may be ball-raced. Steel or rubber sealed bearings are permitted but ceramic bearings may not be used.

9.2.2 Any finned, aluminium, clip on heat sink may be used. Fans are not permitted.

9.2.3 The following option parts may be used:

9.3 BODYSHELLS
Only genuine Tamiya bodyshells, as supplied in general release by the NZ Tamiya distributor with TT-01 kits or XB pre-built TT-01 models are eligible.

9.4 SPEED CONTROLLER

9.4.1 The Tamiya electronic speed controller, part # 45029, model designation TEU 101-BK is the only eligible speed controller. The battery plug may be changed however the speed controller may not be re-wired from its original configuration. Hard wiring of the ESC to the battery is not permitted.

The speed controller may be hard wired to the motor, the original plug may be replaced, however only the original wire may be used and may not be replaced with a wire of higher specification.

9.5 PERMITTED MOTORS

9.5.1 The only permitted motors for this class are:
TAM 53696 Tamiya TZ / 23T Super Stock Motor
TAM 53697 Tamiya RZ / 23T Super Stock Motor
Motor must remain unaltered and the timing must remain locked at the factory setting.

9.5.2 The armature comes with 23T / TAMIYA stamped ( ink stamp ) on the outside face of the armature web and this mark must remain legible and able to be confirmed by the scrutineer.

9.5.3 Brush springs are free as are brushes, however brushes must have crimped eyelets as their original and primary method of mounting. Brushes soldered or re-crimped onto eyelets are not acceptable. Eyelets must be screwed onto the endbell as per the original design and may not be soldered.

9.5.4 The motor must remain as per its original design. No parts may be substituted with parts from other motors or other manufacturers motors. Electronic suppression devices may be installed (capacitors / diodes ).

9.6 BATTERIES
It is the responsibility of the competitor to be able prove the legality of his/her batteries. Cells/Packs must retain original covering and labelling in suitable condition to satisfy scrutineers as to the cell’s/pack’s eligibility.
All batteries must be of “stick pack” configuration. Individual cells formed into a pack in side by side configuration, are not permitted. Batteries must not exceed 1500mah capacity with the exception of the Tamiya 1600SP (part #55095) which is eligible.
Battery plugs are free within the confines of Rule 9.4

9.7 WHEELS & TYRES

9.7.1 This is a “control tyre” class. The only tyre allowed is available from the club premounted on rims.

9.7.2 Only the foam liner as supplied with the tyre may be used although this liner may be glued into the tyre. Solid rubber or moulded liners are not permitted.
9.7.3 Any 26 mm wide / standard diameter touring car wheel may be used.

9.7.4 The use of tyre warmers or any other method, either mechanical, electrical or chemical, of pre-heating the tyre is expressly prohibited.

9.7.5 The use of any form of tyre additive is prohibited.

9.8 GENERAL / TAMIYA TT01

9.8.1 The minimum weight for this class, excluding transponder, will be 1500 grams

9.8.2 Internal gearing must remain as standard. Only the standard 61T spur gear may be used in conjunction with the pinions allowed by Rule # 6.2.3 . The front and rear diff units must remain as original with only genuine Tamiya parts, as specified in the instruction manual, used. Only the lubricants supplied with or as supplied with the kit may be used. Diff oils may not be substituted with heavier options and the diffs must counter-rotate freely as when built to the original instructions.
The centre drive line and all outdrives, driveshafts and axles must remain as standard or within the scope of Rule # 9.2

9.8.3 The aerial mount may be repositioned and any aftermarket aerial mount may be used as long as its only function is to mount the aerial tube.

9.8.4 Any foam bumper may be used on either the front or rear of the car. Such bumpers must be made of a soft, pliable material similar to the original bumper supplied in the kit and must mount using the original mounting hardware.

9.8.5 The car must be constructed as per the instructions with no additions, omissions or modifications to either the components supplied or the manner in which they are assembled other than those dealt with specifically in these rules.

IF THE RULES DON’T SPECIFICALLY SAY YOU CAN DO IT – THEN YOU CAN’T!
