GT-19 Rules
11.0 GT-19
Competitors should be advised that this is not a nationally recognised class and is currently only offered by Auckland region Clubs.
11.1 ELIGIBLE VEHICLES
Any 1:10 scale EP touring car as defined under Rule # 7.0 Touring Modified, is eligible for this class.
11.2 BODYSHELLS
Any 1:10 scale GT Type body may be used as long as it is not:
1. Open Cockpit
2. Central Cockpit
3. Could be considered a wedge, Group C, or LeMans type body
The intention is for this to be a GT Class with Porsche, Corvette, Mustang, Ferrari type bodies.
11.3 MOTORS
11.3.1 The only permitted motors for this class are ROAR legal 19T Spec class motors that also conform to all aspects of this ( #11.3 ) Rule.
11.3.2 Motors may be either bearing or bushing type with an endbell /can that locks the timing at 24 degrees.
11.3.3 Armature must be tagged in a way that it is easy to identify both in and out of the motor. The tag must be permanently affixed to the armature and made of materials that will not self destruct from the heat of the motor or standard motor cleaning agents. The tag should be positioned between two poles of the armature and must be a minimum of .500” in length. The tag must be printed with the OEM manufacturer’s name and “19” (e.g., “EPIC 19”, “YOK 19”, etc.).
11.3.4 Motors submitted for approval as rebuildable 19T Spec Class motors must have the manufacturer’s name in the form of “XXXX 19” (e.g. EPIC 19, YOK 19, etc.) permanently stamped into the mounting face of the motor can.
11.3.5 Motor must remain unaltered and the timing must remain locked at the factory setting. All manufacturers labels identifying the motor and its model type must remain intact and be able to be confirmed by the scrutineer.
11.3.6 Brush springs and brushes are free, however brushes must be of 4x5mm design and must approach the commutator at 90deg when measured from any angle. V-configuration systems are not permitted.
11.3.7 The motor must remain as per its original design. No parts may be substituted with parts from other motors or other manufacturers motors. Electronic suppression devices may be installed (capacitors / diodes ).
11.4 BATTERIES
11.4.1 Cars will be driven by a maximum of 6 cells, either Nicad or NiMH, with a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts per cell -7.2-volt, up to a maximum of 4300 MaH
It is the responsibility of the competitor to be able prove the legality of his/her batteries. Cells/Packs must retain original covering and labelling in suitable condition to satisfy scrutineers as to the cell’s/pack’s eligibility.
11.5 WHEELS & TYRES
11.5.1 Tyres are open – either rubber or foam - unless otherwise stated. Tyres must be either “slick” or “radial” in pattern. No spike type rubber or capped foam tyres are permitted.
11.5.2 Foam or moulded rubber inserts may be fitted inside the tyre.
11.5.3 No tyre additives or tyre conditioners are allowed.
