Tamiya GT race format for Round 3

This will be a reverse round, so Round 2 only will be reverse direction. The first round and Finals are standard direction.  Now that we have a championship order the heats will be seeded by championship standings. Points will be awarded for all three rounds. Michael vdH won’t be able to attend, so all details, such as seeding are subject to the capacity of race control on the day.

The reverse direction race, will be standard grid this round (not reverse grid). This is because qualifying for the final is still based on the fastest time, and race control will be at full capacity on Saturday night. Please bear with us, they are volunteers.

SETUP TIPS from Michael van der Haas

I am running some of the hop up options:

  • alloy prop shaft
  • tamiya heat sink
  • hi-torque servo saver
  • yeah racing dampers
  • bearing set
  • 25 tooth

I am using the standard motor mount rather than the alloy one, and a much more 6000 battery with a futaba 3003 servo.

So yeah, a servo saver on the lowest spec servo probably wasn’t nessecary.

Now for the dampers setup: (same all round)

  • Yeah racing red dot springs (the softest in the yeah racing set)
  • 700 damper oil
  • 2 hole pistons

While this spring and oil combo seemed spot on for outdoors, I think slightly stiffer springs will be best for indoors.

Good luck all!
