Tyre pricing announcement Tamiya GT

By mid 2018, and the discussions about Tamiya GT were forming, one of the touch points was around a spec tyre. In 2018, we listed an indoors tyre that was to be used as a rule, but we didn't help to tell drivers what to do or where to get them. So it was obvious, the best solution as a club is to supply the tyres ourselves for 2019. We have reached out to different suppliers and now, as a result we can supply the spec tyres for racing Tamiya GT 2019.

We have priced the tyres well below retail, and we believe that we will recover the costs through a healthy Championship where drivers regularly enter events. Our goal has to be to increase the numbers of drivers that attend each meeting. Numbers breed numbers and we are looking to make new Club members, and hopefully keep them.

So here are the details:

OUTDOORS : $40 per set

INDOOR : $50 per set

Why we doing hand-back tyres for Pro

You might think the main reason is cheating, or someone is using an illegal insert, etc etc... Well, that is one reason - but the main reason for a beginner class is to cap costs. It means that people on a budget can race an affordable form of motorsport without the threat of your Championship antagonist arriving with new tyres each meeting. Its simple, limit the ependiture on the racing consumables, and it keeps it fun.

Who can buy them?

Because this is our loss-leader, we would like to make sure we are selling them to the right people for the right job.

PRO-AM & PRO drivers can buy them, specifically for use in Tamiya GT.

INDOORS: If you are wanting to be a PRO-AM driver that takes the tyres home, you may need to glue them together yourself. Drivers that prepay before Feb 8 - we will glue them and have them ready for you at Round 1.

Payment form is coming soon. There is no extra cost to getting a PRO licence as we aim to keep costs down. Although it sounds 'pro', the PRO class is about keeping costs controlled - where PRO-AM is has a little more freedom as people can use old tyres.
